 GAMELAN
Dalam sebuah ensemble musik "gamelan" (atw alat musik tradisional dari jawa), seluruh alat musik, dengan sifat dasar berbeda2, membentuk suatu simfoni yg agung. Let's have a look on their characters *I try to put the picture as well, but don't blame me if you cannot see them :p* :

Pimpinanya para balungan (alat musik pembentuk nada utama). Suaranya agak nge-bas, dan harus dipukul dengan keras.

A Leader of gamelan called the balungan (musical instrument forming the primary tones). His voice was nge-bass, and must hit hard.

Pengikut demung, suaranya lebih nyaring, tapi gak boleh dipukul tertalu keras *pengikut harus selalu di belakang bosnya :p*

Balungan dengan suara paling melengking dan dipukul 2 kali lebih cepat dari balungan lainnya. Benar2 ribut dan menghidupkan suasama.

Balungan the most strident voice and hit 2 times faster than other balungan. Really loud and turn the atmosphere.

Suaranya sangat nge-bas dan harus dimainkan dengan dipathet**, membuat suaranya nyaris tak terdengar *rada ndongkol kalo kebagian main yg ini :p*



His voice is very nge-bass and have played with dipathet **, making the voice barely audible * slightly annoyed if it gets played reply: p *
kethuk & kempyak:

Dimainkan hampir di setiap akhir gotro. (saya sendiri kurang tau aturannya ^^;;)



Played almost every end gotro. (I do not really know the rules ^^;;)

gong kempul:
Gong2 kecil yg dimainkan hampir di setiap akhir gotro (kalo di musik biasa gotro = birama)

Small gongs, played almost in every end gotro (if the usual music gotro = bar)

gong gedhe:
dimainkan tiap buka lagu dan tutup lagu. Jarang berbunyi tapi cukup penting (kalo lupa dipukul, sebuah lagu bakal berakhir dengan kacau :p)

played each opening and closing songs. Rarely read but quite important (if you forget to hit, a song would end up with a mess: p)

bonang barung:
Pimpinan kedua dari sebuah gamelan (bisa dibilang sebagai wakil ketua dalam sebuah organisasi :D). dipukul dengan irama yg berbeda dari irama lagu aslinya. Suaranya agak ngebas dan sebagai panutan untuk penentu tempo lagu

The second leader of a gamelan (exactly as the vice chairman of an organization: D). beaten with a different rhythm from the rhythm wrote the original song. His voice was ngebas and as a role model for determining the tempo of the song

bonang penerus:
Pengikut bonang barung. Suaranya agak nyaring dan dipukul 2 kali lebih cepat dari bonang barung.Termasuk dalam barisan pemeriah suasana.



Bonang barung followers. His voice was loud and was beaten 2 times faster than bonang barung. make a festive atmosphere.

kendhang:

Pemimpin utama dalam gamelan. Digunakan untuk menentukan kapan harus bermain dengan tempo cepat, kapan harus pindah irama, dan kapan harus berhenti. Merupakan alat musik ritmis atw tidak bernada (And listening to drum is far easier than listening to kendhang.



The main leaders in the gamelan. Used to determine when to play a fast tempo, when to change the rhythm, and when to stop. Instrument is not rhythmic or pitched (And listening to the drums is far easier than listening to kendhang.
